About
Description

A leading Canadian manufacturer of bottled water, Canadian Gold Beverages, based in Manitoba, Canada, just north of the United States/Canada border, prides itself on having the best tasting water in the world-and with several prestigious tasting awards under its belt, it's hard to dispute that claim. Previously owned by a Dutch company, Canadian Gold has been under new ownership, BevQuest, since 2007, and has spent the past few years garnering accolades and tasting awards. The company's portfolio includes a range of bottle sizes of both sparkling and still water as well as Touch Sparkling Mineral Water, an organic, naturally flavored water. The Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting awards, a prestigious organization and said to be the largest water tasting competition in the world, has consistently recognized Canadian Gold Natural Artesian Water for its high-quality, unique taste as the water has no nitrates, is enriched with calcium and magnesium and has a zero sodium rating. Canadian Gold Sparkling Mineral Water won a gold medal award as the best Carbonated Bottled Water in the 2009 tasting competition and a silver award in the same category this past year. The company's Touch Sparkling Mineral Water also earned a bronze award this year in the carbonated water category. In 2009, the company's still mineral water won a bronze award in the non-carbonated water segment. Daren Powell, marketing director for Canadian Gold, says the company takes great pride in these accolades as the judges of the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting judge more than 100 waters from across the globe and the event has generated a lot of interest in the water industry. According to Powell, the company's water is consistently considered the world's finest due to its source, as it is drawn from an aquifer deep within the pristine and protected Canadian wilderness. Sands and minerals from the last ice age provide filtration and minerals offering an "incredibly fresh and pure taste, " Powell says. "We truly believe it is the best water in the world because we have zero nitrates in the water due to the location, so it's as pure as it gets, which makes it perfect for sparkling and still, " he says. Powell contends that the water's pure, clean taste exceeds that of many other well-known international water brands, such as Pellegrino, Perrier and Fiji. The company recently attended the Private Label Manufacturers Association trade show in Chicago in November, where attendees from as far away as Korea and China were intrigued by the company's artesian water. "We're just getting launched so we're kind of on a high right now. We're excited about the buzz that's around us, " Powell says. Also a private label drink manufacturer, Canadian Gold currently bottles Pic-a-Pop soft drinks, a nostalgic brand first launched in Canada in the 1970s. Running an eco-conscious operation is a priority for Canadian Gold and as part of its effort to become carbon neutral, the company operates a state-of-the-art certified carbon neutral production facility. Centrally located in Canada, the company is able to ship its products by rail or truck to all parts of the US and Canada in an efficient, fast and affordable way that is also environmentally friendly. "We're also one of the few manufacturers to run on hydro-electric power, " Powell says. "We also offer eco-conscious 1-liter glass bottles that are one of the lightest glass bottles around. It feels like holding a bottle of plastic.
